housing project continued

I made more houses yesterday, and I am having such a fun time making them.

crowded house(s)

(i was too lazy to move them off my bed to take a proper picture)

I think I might just stick to houses and not add any other elements. I like the idea of just houses. I didn't post these construction "guidelines" for myself here on my last post, but they were on my blog. The main parts of the houses will be dotted fabric, yellow windows, black dotted roofs, color coordinated doors and the background will be lime/bright green. I set these guidelines for myself for two reasons. First, I wont agonize over each fabric selection while constructing houses. I know I can pick dotty fabric with a "matching" door and any black dotted roof. Second, I think it gives the quilt unity and will be easier to put the top together when I'm done. While on one hand it is slightly boring, on the other hand I find the overall effect very pleasing.

It looks like a leafy neighbourhood from here with all that springlike green -- just like the view from my neighbourhood with its cathedral of American elms coming into full leaf. Your quilt will be a lovely place to live.

I think the houses will look great all by theirselves and love the greens you're using as a background.

hmmm...I just reread that I guess it should have read that the houses would look great by themselves...I don't think theirselves is a word!!

Your houses look great. I like the rules you created for yourself. I've made a couple of houses, and want to make more, just need to set myself some boundaries. I may borrow your rules, thanks!

Love the pink one. Good idea to set guidelines for the colours. I end up with the stash spread out all over the room and the scrap box up ended on the sewing table. Oh what a mess!!!!!

Love the lime-green background! What better colour could be used, I wonder!

I like the texture of the houses & their roofs. Lots of movement. It's a happy quilt.
