I was pondering the background and border and started piecing together 2 inch wide piano keys for the border. Having done half, I decided I didn't like them after all, so cut them in half and used to them as a border round one of the blues.
Nope - don't like. Sorry Tonya - I unpicked it.
Then I thought about this.
Using the olive tree fabric as the background, with a blue border, then perhaps a thicker white border (got some unbleached Kona somewhere) and then the binding.
I quite like it - sort of throws the letters into a 3D effect.
I'm not going to start cutting until you tell me what you think.

Hi Clare: I like it -- it is very effective and I like the play between the dark and light letters. sew it together with confidence.
Ooh, I like it. definitely makes the words pop. yeah, sometimes I seam rip too. always a bummer, but I like that frame around Blue. Are you thinking of doing any piecing of darker blue fabrics to make the border, or just a solid?
I thought of putting together different shades of blue in strips. Nothing with white in - like the dots and stars - but I got a lot of strips from "someone" so will see where they take me. Perhaps cut on the bias?
I also love how it pops, and how some of the words have dark borders and two of the words, the first "blue" and "world" are not bordered. It looks very cozy and friendly!
Andrea
Definitely like it better with the olive tree fabric background! Looks very cool.
looks good!
Oh yeah, you're on the right track now!
Cut, cut, cut! That's really good!
