Welcome to the Lazy Gal Summer Quilting Class of 2008 (even though I'm a pinhead and put 2007 in the url). Our theme is repetition. We're working in a free-pieced or improvisational way. No templates, no patterns, not much measuring and not many rules.

My first impression was that I liked it and that it's different so I'd leave it.
I like it as is, but if you are unsure would swapping one of the purples with a blue help?
I like it. but it might be cool to add an additional border on the left and bottom - something dark like another purple or maybe even a strong pink or orange. That might balance it out or who knows....
I think the purple is too dark or could be swapped, but then, I can only make decisions when I audition fabrics, so what do I know?! Otherwise, it's looking great.
I was thinking the same thing as Tonya: add another darker border to at least the two sides with the blue. Or... how about cutting the purple down real skinny and adding another fabric in the same value as the blue (or the blue itself) to bring it back up to size? That would add to the wonky factor and save you having to reverse sew!
I like Sue's idea a lot. Trim the dark border that bothers you, and add on another color.
Hmmmm... thanks for the suggestions. I am definitely going to consider doing something that requires no reverse sewing! (or I will do nothing at all. It has sort of grown on me.) We'll see. Thanks, everyone.
I would have proposed to replace the darker border but I'm sure the suggestions with additional borders will work too. In any case it's a very very cool top. I love it !
My vote - leave it as is (very fun) and tie it all together with your choice of a very scrappy binding or a single binding fabric that features a mixture of the blues/purples along with touches of the pink/orange flavors.
wow, it is great to see quilts coming together. I find the purple too heavy as a picture, but think it would be fine as a blanket. I like the suggestion to do another trim/border/round that would incorporate the orange/pink/yellow. maybe a repetition of little pieces like the ones already in the body of the quilt (it's too small to see what the image is).
good work!
