Dragonfly top is done
Ok, I've seen flater tops :-), but I'm so happy this top is done, at least for the moment.
I had more trouble with it, than I expected. I sewed tons of scraps together, cutted them in other ankles apart, sewed them back together, had to cut away parts.....so this was my repetition theme :-))
The next step will be basting and then machine-quilting it. No way I'll handquilt it.. with those bulks of seams.. I have thought of quilting swirls in different blue colors onto the blue, maybe I'll embellish the dragonflies with silver beads, maybe I'll do a little applique after the basic quilting...
So any other ideas here ???

The dragonflies are fantastic! Great work.
absolutely beautiful. It might be a pain to quilt, but that pieced background is gorgeous.
It's gorgeous. I love the background colours. Best of luck with the quilting :-)
Looks like you sewed the cut-off bits back into the quilt. I do that too. It makes for some interesting piecing!
What a great quilt you've created!!
I think your plans for machine quilting and maybe beading sound perfect. This is going to be great!
This is wonderful! The dragonflies really stand out. Your ideas for quilting and beading will really look nice.
Those dragonflies...so striking and delicate! The white really stands out against the background, with your words more subtle, almost hidden. Hmmm...it will be interesting to see what you decide to do with embellishment. Congrats on getting it put together!
I too had a little problem with faltness - that's the penalty you pay for going against the grain. But I tacked it carefully, and it's fine now. Yours looks flat enough to me, and the dragonflies are stunning.
i love the design...and the colors are wonderful! what a beauty!
Love it! It definitely says summer night. Before I read that you wanted to quilt it in swirls, I was imagining the exact same thing. I think swirly quilting would look free and easy like a summer evening. ;-)
